If you child is absent from school for any reason, please call the Attendance Hotline - 682-8000 extension 8025 or email: strandattend@mdusd.k12.ca.us . Students' absences are excused for illness, professional medical appointments, or to attend the funeral of a member of the immediate family.
If you child needs to be absent for part of the day for any reason, it is better to send your child for part of the day rather than miss an entire day.
Any student remaining on campus after school must be directly supervised by a parent. Students not picked up by 3:10PM must wait in the office for their parent/guardian.
Please instruct your child that if they don't see you at your regular pick up place after school, that they should go to the office. We want to keep all of our students safe.
Our school maintains high standards of student behavior for all students. Strandwood's standard's of behavior are:

Specific rules for student behavior inside and outside of the classroom will be discussed by each teacher. The following rules are expected of all students at all times:
All Students will be courteous to others on campus. Good manners are used at all times.
Personal items such as toys, skateboards, sports equipment, radios, electronic games are not be brought to school.
Gum and candy are not allowed at school unless you have permission from your teacher.
Makeup is not to be worn or brought to school.
Students may only use the phone with specific permission from their teacher, and only for emergencies or to stay after school with a teacher.
Students are not to bring any item to school that is meant to harm or hurt another student (i.e. knives or other dangerous objects).
Students are not to trade and/or sell any items.
Students are to walk in the halls and in the classrooms.
Running is allowed on the playground only.
Students are to arrive at school on time. If you are tardy, you must first go to the office and get a tardy slip before going to class.
Restrooms are to be used properly.
Courteous and proper behavior is expected at all times while in the cafeteria.
Students are expected to follow directions of the adult in charge at all times.
Parents picking up their child before the end of the school day must come to the office and sign out their child. Students are not released from the classroom. Students will only be released to persons designated on the Emergency Card only. For your child's protection, you will be notified if ANYONE other than the parent or guardian attempts to have your child released from school early.
We need your help in making sure that your child arrives at school on time. Early Friends and 1st through 5th Grade begin class at 8:10 am. Late Friends begin class at 9:50 am. A complete bell schedule can be seen here: Bell Schedule Calendar. If your child is late, he/she must check in at the school office and get a late pass to be admitted to the classroom.
