The Strandwood PTA manages a yearly operating budget in excess of $150,000. A tidy sum that pays for over 50 programs, all of which benefit our kids. Raising that kind of money is no small effort. It takes a lot of parent volunteers, the support of our Staff, families and community, all coming forward to contribute what they can.

We've settled on a fundraising philosophy that's really simple and revolves around the notion that people are busy and finances are often tight. We concentrate our efforts on a few big fundraisers each year in an effort to get the most bang for our buck (so to speak).

E-Money is a "no brainer" type of fundraising that really works with minimal effort on your part. Here's a brief overview of our E-money fundraising:

A. eScrip: Your major company credit cards, grocery club cards etc. are registered with eScrip for offline shopping. Every time you buy something at a participating eScrip merchant (like Safeway and Macys), a percentage of your purchase automatically goes to Strandwood. We made over $10,000 last year on eScrip! There is also an eScrip mall where you and your family or friends can shop online and benefit Strandwood through your purchases as well.

B. Target Take Charge of Education Campaign: Do you shop at Target? If so, apply for a Target credit card and 1% of all purchases at Target and Target.com are donated to the school of your choice! For more info on that program, you can visit

C. Lucky’s SHARES Program: We are excited to be bringing the Lucky’s SHARES program to Strandwood. S.H.A.R.E.S. stands for: Supporting Humanities, Arts, Recreation, Education & Sports. The SHARES program is an easy and efficient way to fundraise.

We have 250 SHARES cards to distribute to Strandwood families and neighbors. Simply swipe your SHARES card when purchasing groceries at any Lucky store (Smart Mart, Smart Foods, and Food Max purchases apply as well). Each time the card is used, 3% of the qualified purchase earns a SHARES point. Each point equals on e dollar earned for Strandwood PTA and we will receive a check each quarter reflecting the amount earned.
